Nolan is joined by Ben McBride, Horrorella, and Paul Farrell to discuss Joseph Ruben’s The Stepfather (1987) and Adam Wingard’s The Guest (2014). The group discusses two major theatrical horror releases as well as what they’ve been watching lately before welcoming this double feature of psychotic, too-good-to-be-true strangers into the family.
As will always be the case with this show, be warned that there are spoilers aplenty. If you want to watch the movies before listening to the show, there are a couple of ways you can do so. The Guest is available to rent/buy through VOD from Amazon, YouTube, VUDU, iTunes, and Google Play (there’s a cheap Blu-ray available on Amazon too). The Stepfather is available on Blu-ray from Shout! Factory (or via Amazon). The Stepfather can also be found streaming for free on YouTube and via Google search, which I won’t link to and normally wouldn’t even mention since the ethics are murky at best, but since there is no other way to rent the movie digitally, I figured it’s worth calling out.
Other movies discussed on this episode: It (2017), It (1990) (VOD — Amazon, YouTube, VUDU, iTunes, Google Play), It Follows (2015) (Netflix), Mother! (2017), Dead Awake (2017) (Netflix), Sole Survivor (1983) (Blu-ray via Diabolik DVD), Suspiria (1977) (tubitv), Mama (2013) (VOD — Amazon, YouTube, VUDU, iTunes, Google Play).
